Rick Gilbert is Chairmen of the Florida Solar Energy Apprenticeship Program and Executive Vice President at Solar Source. Rick has been in the industry since 2001, and is responsible for many of the higher profile installations in the region, from the largest system in Cuba at Guantanamo Bay to the recent Tampa International Airport and Legoland systems. Rick has developed commercial projects from New Jersey to New Mexico, from cash purchases to financed PPA’s (Power Purchase Agreements), for a variety of client types, from small businesses and non-profits, C&I, and Investor-Owned Utilities. Rick has depth of experience in all aspects of project development, from concept to completion, to post- installation support, and a full understanding of running a solar company from the field to the office, with experience ranging from business management, project management, sales management, estimating, Operations & Maintenance, and more.
Rick is the Chairman of the Florida Solar Apprenticeship program, the first nationally recognized Solar Apprenticeship program in the USA. Rick is also the President of Solar Source Institute (SSI). SSI is a Licensed & Accredited school, a NABCEP Authorized Training Provider, and a Continuing Education provider for the Construction Industry Licensing Board and the Electrical Industry Licensing Board. Rick has authored courseware on solar technology and sat on the Editorial Board of Solar Power World where he is a regular guest contributor. Rick has been a Certified Technical Trainer since 1997.
